Character's Full Name: Rose Marion Tyler
Character's Canon: Doctor Who
Character's Journal Name:
defendergirl
What would you like your character's tag to be?: rose tyler
In 300-500 words total, tell us your...
Character's background (their past and present):
Before Rose met the Doctor, she was just an unremarkable, slightly bored 19 year old girl living in London, working in a shop. She was, it seemed, destined for a life in retail, having never finished her A-levels, and seeming to have no real further ambitions in life. She had a single-mother looking after her, and an (admittedly) unfulfilling relationship with her boyfriend Mickey Smith.
And then the Doctor showed her what it was to really live and brought out the traits in her that she didn't even know she had: courage, wit, a need to do the right thing, and heart.
She traveled with the Doctor for (arguably) a number of years - , definitely through both 9 and then some of 10's regeneration, seeing things from the far, far future to the distant past. All of this taught her about herself, about what she was capable of, and how much she was starting to care about the world - and the Doctor. And then one day, one adventure, in order to save her world, she and the Doctor had to work to close the rift between her world and a parallel universe where she discovered her dad was alive and well. (And there were Cybermen, and another version of her boyfriend, Ricky. Now deceased.) This meant that she and the Doctor would be separated forever, something Rose never, ever wanted to happen.
Character's personality: Rose has been described to bring the 'heart' to the 9th and 10th Doctor's episodes, and it's easy to see how. Rose is kind-hearted and compassionate, while she is spunky and quick on her feet. She's able to adapt to her environments pretty easily, and she is observant. She is brave and is willing to do the right thing, even at the cost of her own well-being. She is also greatly forgiving and merciful, and able to admit to her mistakes when she makes them.
At her worst, she can be jealous and a little possessive, and sometimes she does something without thinking about it, often defying the Doctor. This can sometimes get her into trouble.
Character's skills/abilities/powers:
She won the bronze medal at school for gymnastics.
She proves to be quite apt with guns, when the occasion calls for it.
She is also pretty good at running, which is something you do a lot when you're traveling with the Doctor.
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.:
Just the clothes on her back, and likely a pink hoodie.
Are you bringing your character to
ten_fwd from another game? If you are, which game?:
No.
If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s):
NA.
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them?
Rose is one of those characters who is so dear to me. She's one of my favourite Companions, if not my favourite Companion (though the competition is stiff). For Rose, suddenly appearing on another spaceship, and traveling to other alien planets, and that sort of thing, won't be too out of the ordinary. But she's only ever done all of this stuff with the one man, the Doctor.
This journey for her would be a little like an extension of her adventures with the Doctor, and if the Doctor comes to join her, it'll only prove to be more of a learning experience and more fun. She'll get to meet even more different types of people, which I think is one of her favourite things about space/time travel, and hopefully help out every now and then in possibly saving a world.
